Camp #8 Devils Tower KOA Part Deux

September 14, 2017

A few pics from last night.  We checked the weather app and decided to ride the motorcycle tomorrow before cold and rain come in for a few days.  Settled in and enjoyed the sunset from our reclining chairs.  Check out our neighbor’s set up.  I think this is the first time I saw a tractor trailer towing a 5th wheel.  Nice!

I love all these.  Never knew one could own a Post Office.  Fancy drinks, huh?

We got up early and tooled around on the motorcycle.  The temps were much cooler so I enjoyed wearing our leather on the bike.  There’s just something about riding down the road on a motorcycle, all leathered up, with your hair in a bandana, laughing with your honey and stopping anywhere you feel so inclined to take in all the beautiful scenery.  My fear of wrecking always stopped me before.  Sometimes it still does, I hate riding above like 50 mph.  I want to stay on the backroads; nice and easy.

We stopped in Aladdin at the old community store, now 110 years old.  I’m not sure which sign was more amusing.  The lady working there said they maintain their population because, “Every time a woman gets pregnant, a man leaves town!”  I never knew one could actually own a Post Office.

Vore Buffalo Jump didn’t have an attendant so we couldn’t go inside anything.  I always wondered where all these holes/canyons came from. Turns out they’re SINK HOLES.  The Native Americans would use them to drive buffalo into.  It was an interesting read and we walked down to the bottom so not a total loss.

Today was rainy and cold.  We learned it is snowing in Montana where we are headed next.  Really had hoped to avoid snow.  Guess we will stock up on propane and pull the few winter clothes we brought out from under the bed.  The good news is the snow and rain will probably help dampen the wildfires still burning in the North West.  Joe took the truck into Spearfish, about an hour away, to the Wal-Mart to get much needed supplies.

We somehow lost the lid housing our camper’s battery on the drive here from Keystone.  Joe couldn’t find the exact size so he will have to wuzzle it into a new box and lid.  I expect that will be interesting.  We will wait until Monday when the temps are back in the 60’s to tackle that particular job.

I had several meetings today and ended up using my hotspot to get FaceTime to work.  I still stay confused about the time.  My meetings in Outlook are in EST so my first one started at 7:30 MST.  I ended up wetting my bed head in the kitchen sink, much to Joe’s horror, in an attempt to look presentable.  I’ll shower on the morrow–lol.  All’s well that ends well.  It was nice seeing my coworkers and they all agreed I should shut up about the cold temperatures.  Check it, Kim.  You are living the dream many wish for.  Gotcha.

In the evening I crawled out from behind my computer and we went to dinner.  Joe, our friendly bartender on the corner, recommended Ponderosa.  Nope, not the chain.  It was a nice little restaurant in Hulett, Wyoming, about 10 miles from here.  Joe had Cod and I had Baby Bakers (new potatoes) and a salad.  Yummy.

Back to camp to play Shanghai Rummy.  Remember, sibs, how many hours we played that as kids with Gran and Catherine?  We had to google the rules.  Joe caught on quickly but I still creamed him.  I have a feeling he will have plenty of opportunity for revenge.

Saturday has dawned another cold and rainy day.  I think we will hunker down and watch the boob tube, plenty of football on.  It’s weird to watch football at 10:30am. Later gators.

    Wuzzle?
I read the sign about the Vore Buffalo Jump. Very interesting. Love the education I’m getting. It’s like being back in high school except this time I want to learn, LOL.
