Lincoln City, Oregon Cont.

We knocked around last night and this evening after work when the rain paused for a bit.

Camper life present it’s challenges.  Small spaces require constant upkeep.  In 31 feet, we have a bedroom with a full size queen bed, a kitchen with a dining space and two person couch on the other side, and a decent sized bathroom with shower.  And we have three living beings sharing that space.  Seriously, go find a tape measure and lay out 31 feet.  Think about that before embarking on such an adventure.  Yeehaw.

Things that we take for granted, become effortful.  Changing clothes, for example…..all the blinds need to be shut to change in the larger kitchen area.  The alternative is the sliver of space by my side of the bed but be cognizant of the blind which is butt-level.  I got a big butt and constantly hit that thing meaning I’m repeatedly exposing our neighbors to a freak show.  The positive side is I’m pretty sure my balance is improving as I put on my pants and shoes standing up–it’s a skill.

We also have a recent problem with water pressure in the kitchen sink.  It’s a trickle, seriously….a trickle–think Angel Hair Noodle.  When we cook (which we do to stay in budget), it’s a challenge.  Lots of pans and bowls to clean.  So the other night I resorted to the shower.  Don’t judge me!  Improvise, Adapt, Overcome.

Storage..look around your house and decide what to take on a 4-6 month trip.  Go ahead, decide.  Oh and don’t forget what you acquire along the way.  So, in hindsight, we should’ve brought a nice outfit or two.  When we left, we were felling very hippie and fuck the establishment.  We brought comfortable clothes and not much else.  We basically look like those awful Walmart pics.  I brought ONE nice outfit to wear on site visits…..but it’s a summer outfit and even tho we are on the coast….it’s COLD.  Live and Learn.

Joe and I have a shoe fetish, so we have a shoe basket–to which we have added at least once when we encountered a Converse sale.  The last pic is of me working today while it pours the rain outside.  Temps are in the 50s during the day with pouring rain most mornings.  Positive?  Rain on a camper is like a lullaby.

Here are some pics from our venture out this evening.  The last one below….Oregon does NOT ALLOW you to pump your own gas.  It’s a “right to work” law they say.  It’s vaguely uncomfortable, especially on a motorcycle.  Do you tip?  What are the expectations??  Must google it.
