The weather is beautiful so we rationalized that as a reason to extend our stay in Wonderland another week. 🙂

Everyone says to hit The Castro at night so we took the ferry over one night after work. We donned our warm lids, mine from SF’s Little Italy and Joe’s from a long ago Philly trip. The music and vibe was wonderful, of course. Hate I missed some of the shops but probably a good thing–lol. Not sure WV can handle our level of diversity at this point. Joe got a groovy new buzz and we shared a yummy veggie lasagna. The pasta got the best of Joe on the F Line back to the Ferry.
While I clicked keys in the camper, Joe explored a bit, soaking up the warm temps, with a bike ride. He found Haight on his bike (hate I missed that!) and wandered to Santa Rosa where he found a church made of ONE Redwood and the Charles Shultz Museum.
We found a little town, Fairfax, and a super cool bar called 19 Broadway, owned by Irishman, Chris. We sat outside enjoying the temps only to look up and see an ORANGE Tree. Come on, Man! An Orange tree? Please, can’t we live here??? If only Cali didn’t cost an arm and leg to live…..
I planned a date night with Joe (cause he’s a great hubs and I love him), starting with the Ferry over to SF and the F Line to Fisherman’s Wharf where we got off and strolled to Pier 47 to enjoy Scoma’s. The campground has a worker from Kentucky. She’s adorable. Joe and I can never remember her name BUT we don’t forget she’s from Kentucky. So that’s what we affectionately call her, Kentucky. She recognized our accent immediately and we bonded. She gave us many insider tricks 🙂

Next was The Exploratorium After Dark It challenges your perception which we always love. It’s also a great date destination. Between our own laughs and new discoveries we enjoyed watching all the first-daters around us as they connected. Thankful for the experience, we hung out laughing as we waited for the Ferry home.

Our last day in SF was memorable and melancholy. We finally found the bus (39) to Coit Tower and saw the whole city. Took a short walk to Chinatown, seeing the Sentinel Building along the way, and then walked down thru the Saturday Market to the Ferry Building which took us home to Marin.

We stopped in the Ferry Building to pick up some fresh ground hamburger, Hot Italian sausage, and fresh mushrooms for chili tomorrow. Raiders vs. Giants, fingers crossed.
Our last day was low key. We ate our best chili so far, Apache played with neighbors (Rascal) and Joe loaded the motorcycle back on the truck while listening to the Raider game.
Meanwhile, I nested inside the camper. Hanging Chinatown kitschy curtains (scarves) in the camper to add some color. The bathroom got a curtain to add some vestige of privacy, rarely is the campsite so perfectly level we can shut the bathroom door. Think about that for a minute. Yup….a curtain is better than nothing.
Tomorrow we leave SF. Our heart aches for the loss and yet we look forward to what’s next.
Love that you are having such a wonderful time and sharing it with us! The pictures and the descriptions are amazing. Can’t wait to hear what’s next!!
Safe travels 🙂
