Camp #14 Deerwood RV Park, Eugene, Oregon Site #52

We traveled a few hours to Eugene on the advice of my BFF, Amy, who shares my hippie values.  She says this is the place to explore.  So here we are.  Thanks Amy Jo!

Our site is spacious and has lots of privacy and grass.  All three of us love it.  Rain is on the way, however, so Joe needed to squeeze every drop out of the cool, sunny first two days.  I joined when I could after work.

As the rain descended, we settled in with some comfort food, chicken and gravy with lots of fresh vegetables.  Yummm….

We found VooDoo Doughnuts in Eugene to be as good as Portland and much more low key.  Gotta say, I still prefer Krispy Kreme.

Joe explored on his bike and found a covered bridge nearby.  Also, found some interesting Halloween Decorations…

Joe also found a bar that turned out to be the bar in a scene of Animal House.  It was unchanged, a little odd, and totally up our alley.  They had a prime rib that was smoked out back where you can hang out by a campfire.  OMG.  Can’t wait to rewatch the movie.

Behind the Animal House Bar

We woke up Saturday to temps in the 40’s and rain pretty steady.  The rain here reminds me of Ireland–it’s misty and steady but somehow bearable and no one seems to alter their plans.  We pulled on our water proof boots and off we went.  Our site is full of beautiful mature trees that are dropping their bright leaves like crazy.  Also, we love the various mosses.  I met a neat young lady the other day as she drank beer and crocheted. She is from Colorado but loves it here more, she says Oregon is greener in the winter because of the beautiful mosses.  I liked her.

Temps were 50’s and raining like crazy, gotta love Saturday Market Eugene, Oregon

The market is best explained as, “Groovy”.  Folks were dressed in layers, lots of rain gear and bright smiles.  The music was simple and upbeat.  I got a rope and wood necklace–my favorite kind.  As we passed a vegetable booth we both smelled a wonderful, clean scent of Basil.  So we picked up a basil bunch and several fresh tomatoes which I combined with garlic and spices–soo good.
