We found another coastal town. This one is just miles from the California Border. The Harris Beach campground is high above a beautiful beach. All the beach view sites were taken but we found a nice wooded one just steps from that view with LOTS of space and a huge fire ring. We love it! There is no cable or wifi so our data will take a hit but well worth it.
After we set up we took Apache for a nice long walk on the beach below. He quickly found a new girlfriend in Emma. They had a wonderful time as we lazed along the sandy pacific, waves crashing, a few surfing nearby—a beautiful memory.
The sunset was another wonder. We squeezed every drop out of this day, I’d say.
Back to the camp for a fire and music.
We started our next day at the Wild Mushroom Festival. It was in the tiny little Chetco Community Building. Joe quickly felt claustrophobic and decided to wait outside for me. I enjoyed the center table with examples of all the local mushrooms. If we lived here, I think we would enjoy shrooming.
After some lunch of sushi and warm sake we went in search of a nearby beach where the locals say is THE place for sea glass and driftwood. What a find! We made sure to get some artsy driftwood for Joe’s mom, Sue. She’s gonna be thrilled!

Tomorrow promises to be a rainy Sunday so we will cozy in for some football games and puzzles. Flipping the coin to see who has to take Apache out.
